Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Swiss CNC machining at TXSwiss — tolerances, materials, lead times, certifications and quality.

What tolerances can TXSwiss hold on Swiss CNC parts?

TXSwiss routinely holds diametral tolerances to ±0.0001" (0.0025 mm), concentricity to 0.0002" TIR, and roundness to 0.00005". Our guide bushing architecture eliminates tool deflection, which is how we stay inside those numbers repeatably on long, slender components.

What materials do you machine?

Stainless steels (303, 304, 316, 316L, 17-4PH, 15-5PH), titanium (Grade 2, Grade 5, Ti-6Al-4V ELI), Inconel 625/718, Hastelloy C-276, Monel 400/K-500, aluminum 6061/7075/2024, brass C360, bronze, beryllium copper, tool steels, and engineered plastics including PEEK, Delrin, Ultem, nylon, and PTFE. Aerospace-, medical-, and mil-spec-grade certifications available on request.

What is your typical lead time for a prototype?

Rapid prototypes typically ship in 1–2 weeks from a clean print. There is no minimum order and no tooling charge. DFM feedback is included — we will flag anything on the drawing that would raise cost or risk before we cut the first chip.

Can you support high-volume production runs?

Yes. We run bar-fed, 24/7 lights-out production with SPC monitoring and Cpk tracking. Orders of 1,000 to 1,000,000+ parts are routine. We offer blanket orders with scheduled releases and just-in-time delivery.

Is TXSwiss ISO 9001 certified?

Yes. TXSwiss is ISO 9001:2015 certified by American Global Standards (AGS). We maintain full material traceability, first-article inspection reports (FAIR / AS9102), and PPAP documentation for customers who require it.

Do you serve regulated industries like aerospace, medical, and defense?

Yes. We manufacture components for aerospace (AS9102 FAIR), medical devices (biocompatible Ti-6Al-4V ELI, 316LVM, PEEK), government and commercial defense (MIL-STD compliance, ITAR-aware shop), oil & gas (NACE MR0175 sour service), automotive (PPAP), and firearms / ammunition components.

What inspection and quality processes do you use?

AQL level 2.5 is standard with 100% inspection available on request. We use CMM measurement with GD&T, optical comparators, surface finish analysis, and hardness testing. First Article Inspection (FAIR) reports and material certifications are provided with every job.

What is the largest bar diameter you can machine on Swiss?

Our Swiss platform handles bar stock up to 38 mm (1.5") diameter with up to 7 simultaneous axes, main and sub-spindle, and live tooling with Y-axis so complex parts come off the machine complete in a single setup.

Do you provide secondary operations like heat treatment or plating?

Yes. Secondary operations include threading and tapping, heat treatment, zinc/nickel/chrome/gold plating, Type II and Type III anodizing, passivation, assembly, kitting, and packaging. We manage the vendor chain so you receive finished parts, not blanks.

Where is TXSwiss located and do you ship nationwide?

TXSwiss is located at 2004 Airport Rd, Conroe, TX 77301 — just north of Houston. We ship nationwide and internationally. For urgent requests call (866) TX-SWISS (866-897-7477) or email support@txswiss.com.

Do you accept small or one-off orders?

Yes. We have no minimum order quantity on prototypes and small runs. If a project starts as a single prototype and scales to production, the same shop delivers both — no re-qualification needed.

How do I request a quote?

Use the Get a Quote button on any page to upload drawings (PDF, STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG) and specify quantities, materials, and tolerances. You can also email support@txswiss.com or call (866) TX-SWISS directly. Most quotes come back within 24 hours.
